True fucking love story

Love isn’t always sweet. Sometimes it stings. Sometimes it slips away. Sometimes it’s not a fairytale — it’s a maze you walk through in the dark. That’s the spirit behind True Fucking Love Story: a project disguised as a box of chocolates, hiding a brutal, honest, and beautifully human truth inside.

This piece is a reflection on the struggle to find love — and the even greater challenge of keeping it. The title doesn’t whisper. It shouts. It tells it like it is: with humour, frustration, tenderness, and zero sugarcoating. What looks like a gift box is, in reality, a sensory experience that combines visual identity, product design, film, and emotion.

Open the box and you’ll find three core elements: First, chocolates — a soft landing, a moment of sweetness between emotional punches. Second, double-sided postcards featuring stills from the short film included, with space to write to someone — the one who stayed, or the one who couldn’t.
And third, a broken heart — literally. A heart-shaped USB, 3D printed, sanded and hand-painted, hiding the film that completes the story. The short film was shot at night inside one of Barcelona’s most iconic labyrinths. But the maze isn’t just a location — it’s a metaphor. A reflection of how love unfolds: full of choices, setbacks, illusions, dead ends and that one glowing centre you chase but can’t quite reach. In the heart of the maze, a light shines — a promise, a symbol, a destination.

Everything in this project is handcrafted: from the stone cardboard box to the paper lining, from the custom thermoformed plastic insert to the bold, red vinyl on the lid. Imperfection isn’t hidden — it’s embraced. Because the point is not to be flawless, but to be real. The red palette speaks of passion, yes — but also danger, vulnerability and desire. Here, love is shown as it really is: messy, vivid, contradictory and deeply needed.

True Fucking Love Story doesn’t offer fantasy. It holds up a mirror. It doesn’t chase happy endings — it shares human truths.
